January Intermediate Salsa Classes

$50
Skill Level:

In the Intermediate Salsa series, Tianne and Jack will teach a pattern combination with three distinct lead and follow variations each week. Intermediate classes emphasize proper technique, flowing movement. We also discuss how to be musical and how to unleash your creativity as a leader and follower using the monthly combinations.

Every class, we start with footwork, bodywork and/or individual dance moves so you can take basic steps and turn it into a cool solo steps and sticky hot messes. We build on basic concepts and pile on the salsa with scrumptious styling, accents and advanced variations. At a half-hour into class, we continue onto partnered dancing starting. We use basic figures of salsa and combine them into flowing and musical pattern runs. Each week of the month, we introduce advanced lead and follow variations. As always, there's time to practice, social dance and freestyle at the end.

PREREQUISITES: Dancers taking our classes will benefit the most from our classes if they have are familiar with leading/following these figures: (1) right turns, (2) left turns, (3) cross-body leads, (4) reverse cross-body leads, (5) catwalks, (6) right side passes, (7) baskets, (8) back-spot turns. We teach these figures in our Pre-Intermediate classes.

SHOES REQUIRED: Dance shoes are required for all students. You may wear salsa shoes, latin ballroom shoes, jazz shoes (recommended), dance sneakers, or foot thongs. We will ask you to dance in socks if you do not have appropriate footwear.
